About Us:

Numark Digital is an exciting new digital venture within Phoenix, with a mission to become the most visible pharmacy service in the UK. Being less than 10 months old and with an ambitious future ahead, we are forming a team of technology and product specialists to help drive the digital transformation of pharmacy in the UK.

We have already launched our digital prescription product ‘Hey Pharmacist’ and have plans to significantly expand our offering.

The Phoenix Group is a European healthcare logistics and pharmacy retail company with circa 40,000 colleagues operating in over 30 different countries. In the UK we distribute to 5,600 dispensing points via our 13 nationwide distribution centres and own 500 community pharmacies.

Supporting longer, healthier and happier lives is at the heart of the service that we deliver to our communities and something that we are really proud of.

About the Opportunity: This new and exciting Platform Engineer role will provide automation, tooling and cloud infrastructure capabilities for digital delivery teams.

  • Do you believe that community pharmacy has a vital role to play at the heart of the NHS?
  • Do you want to join a team dedicated to providing thousands of bricks and mortar pharmacies with the digital tools necessary to compete with online only alternatives?
  • Are you a Platform Engineer with relevant experience?

This is a hands-on role that will carry out a wide range of activities, from actively building and maintaining platform infrastructure, developing our technical standards and ways of working, through to coaching other engineers and engaging with non-technical people at all levels of seniority.

The role will operate in a Dev Ops environment which will also provide support for the relevant applications and platforms as required.

This is a great time to join us and to make your mark with a new and expanding team.

To support this strategy we have recently acquired a leading digital prescription platform. It is already a great product that customers love, you only have to look at their app ratings and customer comments to see that it is a quality product. In the short term we are fine tuning the app to best benefit our members. The longer term vision is to evolve the product from a prescription app into a pharmacy app and then into a health app centered on pharmacy.

Ideally you will have a combination of skills relating to any of the following:

  • A breadth of knowledge and experience across AWS services such as EC2, IAM, ECR, NLB, Fargate, API Gateway, Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, CloudWatch.
  • Good understanding of full web technology stack (Network, TCP/IP, DNS, Routing, HTTP/S).
  • Strong skills & experience with Unix/Linux environments.
  • Experienced with scripting languages/tools such as Bash, Ruby, Python.
  • Continuous Configuration Automation tooling such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform.
  • CI/CD tooling and such as Jenkins, TeamCity.
  • Containerisation and tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Our Digital journey is just starting and we’d like you to be a part of it!
