As a Systems Administrator, you will play a vital role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing our technology infrastructure. You will work closely with senior colleagues to ensure the seamless operation of our systems across a diverse range of platforms, including UNIX, Windows, and cloud environments.

You will be supported by your team and through a mix of self-directed training, instructor led courses and on the job training and support.
Responsibilities
This is a varied role with a wide range of responsibilities. A sample of these is listed below:
- Perform typical Systems Administration activities for Unix/Linux platforms including administering users, printers and backup/restore. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Automate repetitive tasks using appropriate tools and techniques including scripting, e.g. Shell, Perl. Ensure that such scripts are properly documented and subject to version control.
- Support out-of-hours activities such as patching and systems continuity testing.
- Deployment and management of bespoke applications on Windows Server platforms.
- Implementation and support of integrations via MS IIS platforms.
- Design, deploy and administer bespoke cloud solutions.
- Provide support of such cloud solutions and monitor their metrics and costs.
- Write and execute SQL queries to extract or update data.
- Support the design, development and operation of RESTful APIs.
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of the company’s bespoke ERP platform in order to be able to design, build, deploy and troubleshoot new features.
- Produce high quality reference and support documentation.
Knowledge and Skills
- Essential:
- Degree or HND in an IT or Computer Science related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience in the use of Linux or UNIX operating systems.
- Developing and implementing scripts using shell scripting, Perl or Python.
- Developing SQL queries for common CRUD operations.
- Experience of any of the following would be advantageous:
- Installation, configuration and use of common UNIX tools such as Samba and Sudo.
- Administration of UNIX print services, e.g. CUPS or lp.
- Understanding and use of software version control system, e.g. Git.
- Configuration and support of Web servers such as Microsoft IIS, Apache and NGINX.
- The use and development of RestFul APIs.
- The use of MS SQL Server including familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio.
- Understanding of Cloud principles and common services.
- Experience using Jira and/or Confluence.
- Industry specific experience in one or both of warehousing/distribution or retail pharmacy.
