About Phoenix Data, Analytics and Insight Team:

This is a transformative and exciting time to be part of the Phoenix Data, Analytics & Insight (DA&I) team. We are embarking on a bold journey to reimagine how data is used across the business — from laying strong modern data foundations to unlocking powerful insights and shaping AI-driven innovations that will help to support our ambitious growth plans.

We’re building a high-performing, forward-thinking team with a fresh structure, modern cloud-based technologies like Microsoft Fabric, and a clear focus on delivering business impact. Whether you’re passionate about data engineering, business intelligence, analytics, or automation, you’ll be joining a team where your ideas will shape the future of healthcare logistics and pharmacy services in the UK.

You’ll be empowered to make a real difference, working on meaningful projects that improve decision-making, drive efficiency, and help our colleagues and customers thrive.

About the Role:

As Data Platform Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the data platform strategy across Phoenix UK, ensuring the organisation has a scalable, high-performing, and well-governed data infrastructure to support its ambitious growth plans.

As a recognised technical authority and champion of data engineering and data management, you will ensure that data across the organisation is accurate, well-structured, and readily accessible to enable strategic decision-making and operational excellence.

You will lead the development and embedding of a robust data excellence framework, placing data governance, data quality, and master data management at the heart of Phoenix UK’s operations. This includes defining and enforcing data standards, enhancing data integrity, and working in close partnership with business stakeholders to build confidence in our data assets and unlock their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and execute the data platform strategy, ensuring it aligns with business goals and supports Phoenix UK’s growth ambitions.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of data engineers and data management specialists, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
  • Oversee the architecture, development, and evolution of the data platform, ensuring it is scalable, secure, and aligned with modern best practices.
  • Implement and enforce data governance policies to improve data quality, consistency, and compliance across Phoenix UK.
  • Champion master data management (MDM), ensuring key business data (customers, products, suppliers, etc.) is well-maintained and trusted.
  • Drive improvements in data ingestion, transformation, and storage, optimising performance and cost efficiency.
  • Lead the migration of our on-premise data warehouse to a modern cloud-based data infrastructure, leveraging Microsoft Fabric, Azure.
  • Support the development of the Phoenix (DA&I) strategy as a senior member of the team.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience leading data engineering, data platforms, or data management teams in a large, fast paced environment.
  • Expert in the use of Microsoft data platform technology (Azure / Fabric).
  • Successfully delivered complex data engineering & platform projects including migrations to Microsoft cloud solutions (Azure, Fabric).
  • A natural leader with the ability to guide cultural change and foster collaboration.
  • Proficient in advanced SQL and data modelling.
  • Strong experience developing in Python / PySpark.
