About the Role
Are you a commercially driven Buyer with experience in the PI category and a passion for finding opportunities, negotiating great deals and ensuring product availability?
We’re looking for a PI Buyer to join our Commercial team in Runcorn. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in managing our PI molecule portfolio, negotiating competitive cost prices, securing supply and ensuring we have the right products available to meet business needs.
Working in a fast-moving commercial environment, you'll build strong relationships with suppliers and collaborate with teams across Pricing, Supply Chain, Replenishment, Operations, Telesales and Commercial.
You'll need to be comfortable working in a high-pressure environment where market conditions can change quickly and where your commercial decisions can have a real impact on the business.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead commercial negotiations for PI molecules, securing competitive cost prices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Take proactive steps to maximise product availability across the business.
- Source new supplier opportunities and identify new molecules that could come to market.
- Monitor inbound cost price movements and work with the Pricing and Telesales teams to ensure we remain commercially competitive.
- Work closely with the Commercial Proposition team to align on market pricing movements and product availability.
- Contribute proactively to category and pricing meetings.
- Work collaboratively with Operations, Supply Chain, Replenishment and Depot teams.
- Identify and address overstock and understock within your area of responsibility.
- Maintain excellent communication with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Travel within the UK and Europe where required.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is commercially astute, analytical and able to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment.
You'll ideally have:
- A purchasing background within the PI category, preferably gained in a fast-moving, high-pressure trading environment.
- Experience developing and implementing commercial initiatives.
- Experience working within a complex organisation where strong internal communication is essential.
- Strong analytical skills and a commercial mindset.
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A highly innovative and proactive approach, with the ability to identify opportunities and turn them into action.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
An understanding of pharmacy reimbursement models and industry pricing agreements, including changes to Drug Tariff, Category M and VPAS/VPAG, would also be advantageous.
